2D Pattern Week 1

Image
First Week For the first week, I kinda already knew what my Idea was. I guess the hard part was what I'm going to take pictures of and pull inspiration from. throughout the week I took a lot of pics but it pretty hard to find the right ones. I think until I started thinking more about the digital part of my project. I had to really look at patterns because the part that interested me the most, especially the Pendleton/"native" designs. My pics and research are below. In my research, I'm trying to find ways I can mix ideas of cultural art, clothing and tradition, with ideas of geometric art and the new technology. The way I explored that was through a QR code and mixing Pendleton sort of geometric design with it. More on my notes below (sorry they are a bit messy).

Castle!

Makin' the castle:        The castle seemed a bit tricky at first until I figured out more of what the tools do and how they work. I looked on YouTube for some tips making the wall around the castle. My idea was to make the walls have bricks at the top. I ended up found a video on making gears that showed me the how to work the ARRAY and OFFSET command on a basic level. I also messed around with the BOOLEAN SEPARATION to create the four windows on the tower, just applying what I know from Blender and Cura.       I had a lot of fun though working on the castle, it never felt too confusing trying to navigate the Rhino program or figuring out the tools (alright some tools are still a bit odd to me). Here is some screenshots of my end reslult:
